Zavkhan Trekking
Zavkhan Trekking takes small groups into two of the most remote regions of Mongolia, travelling by horseback. We explore the forests and valleys of Zavkhan in the centre of the country, and the Altai mountains in the far west.
Zavkhan Trekking has only been venturing into these areas for three years, so when we say you will be exploring, you really will be. We will be following new routes, crossing new passes, going where few westerners have gone before. The end of the 2009 season marked another year of riding without seeing any tourists in these overlooked regions of Mongolia.
It is also the local people and their fascinating culture that makes Mongolia special. We strongly believe that they should benefit from any tourism in the region, and we are working toward a long-term relationship with these local nomadic families. By keeping our groups small (max 10 people), we also hope to minimise our impact on the environment.
